How to become fit in 6 months as a high school student?

I’m 17 years old and in high school, and I’m not the leanest person in the world. I’ve done some weight training but i can barely handle weights over 60 lbs at a local gym that I go to. I’m also easily exhausted when running in the morning. Recently, I’ve tried taking whey protein drinks after each workout, but i havn’t been seeing results. Am I doing something wrong? I’m considering getting this: http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2486357&cp=2551210 , but I’ve read on a few websites that it would be dangerous for people under age 25 to try stuff like this because it would be just as bad as taking steroids or illegal drugs. Someone help me! I need to become fit in 6 months and stronger. I prefer answers from professional nutritionists or Doctors please.

mr. sasuke, i am both a professional fitness trainer and an athlete. I would like to tell you first that, that supplement is basically a fancy protein powder and it defiantly not comparable to steroids and their side effects, I see no significant reason why you should deny yourself this, it may be expensive and a cheaper protein supplement should be sufficient. Look for online nutrition calculators that will give you a ballpark of where you need to have your diet at in terms of carbs and protein. It is definitely not true that lifting makes you appear fatter unless you are consuming excess calories. Running is the best for burning fat though.
PATIENCE…is the best thing you can do for yourself. 6 months is plenty of time to see marked improvements in all areas but don’t expect to go from coach potato to high school athlete in 6 months. Consistency is crucial and diet is a big factor in your success. As a generality i would say weight train mon, wends, fri, for about 45min-1hour and do cardio tues thursday, for 30-45min. Do a little research and find your weakness pay special attention to them.
Remember consistency, patience, diet, training and recovery are the keys to success
