Can I study Nutrition at University even though I have served a custodial sentence?
April 2007 I was sentenced to 9 months in prison, of which I served 4 months. The offence was a violent crime. I also have a few other petty crimes on my record e.g criminal damage and common assault. These were dated about 2006. I am now a completely changed person and am doing Access to Higher Education at College. My dream is to become a Nutritionist and dietitian. I need to know with my criminal record is this just a dream or can I study this at uni and do it as a career? Please help me. Thank you.
I want to study at Birmingham uni, doing health and well-being, nutritional science. It states- ‘Non-academic Entry Requirements
All offers are subject to satisfactory Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and Occupational Health clearance. Even if you have a CRB check from another organisation a new check must be carried out’….Do you think they might go on individual circumstances? Or should I just give up now?
Cant hurt to try. If the issues were in the past and youve shown a commitment to change (no recent issues) you should be good to go. Do you have an officer assigned to your case? Ask them to put a word in for you. Just be completely honest, if you lie or omit that looks really bad.
